Story
PIZZERIA AND restaurant
Established in Palo Alto in 2013, in just three years from opening, Terún has become one of the most popular pizza restaurants in the Bay Area.
Franco and Maico Campilongo, with chef and close friend Kristjan D’Angelo, have opened Terún Pizzeria offering an outstanding menu focusing on high quality ingredients for their signature traditional wood-fired Neapolitan style pizza along with authentic Italian pasta, steak, fish, cocktails, and a great selection of wines.
"The success of our restaurants comes from our experience, dedication and passion for food combined with the Italian well known spirit of warmth and hospitality."
Born in southern Italy, the three founders grew up with a natural talent in the hospitality and food industry. Bringing those Italian kitchen secrets with them to the Bay Area, the authenticity of their food continues to vivaciously entertain crowds of happy palates with delicious meals often accompanied with live music.
"We cherish fresh local ingredients, and import only the best raw materials for our pasta, pizzas, and offer a carefully selected list of Italian wines. We pride ourselves in serving authentic Italian cuisine and are honored for all the recognition our work has received so far".
Kristian arrived in Italy with a pizza shovel which is still in Terún today. He brought it because his goal was to open a pizzeria and make the best pizza here in California. "Dreams are desires and sometimes they can even come true." Maico Campilongo reminds us. And it is precisely by dreaming together that Maico, Franco and Kristjan offer excellent quality every day, using selected products and flours (those of Petra® Molino Quaglia), thus embracing the Italian taste.
Terún has reached great successes during the past 9 years and we look forward to continuing to serve our food to many Silicon Valley residents. Terún is also a favorite of Mark Zuckerberg (of Facebook), Jeff Bezos (of Amazon), Andrè Borschberg (co-founder of the solar-powered plane), Oprah Winfrey (TV presenter, actress and American philanthropist), Lance Armstrong, Bob Roll (former American professional cyclist) and Federico Faggin (Italian physicist and inventor of the microprocessor)… “The list of people who have changed the world, and have enjoyed eating at Terún and iTalico is long” says Maico Campilongo with pride.
"Terún’s success inspired us to offer our community another scene to explore more of our executive chef Kristjan’s Italian culinary flavors." Just so that, just a few steps away, they opened Italico Restaurant.
A curiosity':
The term Terrone - hence Terún in dialect - was used in Italy to indicate the people of southern Italy. The term has strong xenophobic overtones of rejection and has been recognized as a discriminatory insult but now in the Bay Area and all around California, this term is recognized as a symbol of Italian excellence. The pizzeria is ironically called Terún to claim the territorial and cultural origins of its founders: Maico and Franco are from Calabria while Kristjan was born in Puglia.
Bici-Amici Project
"For several years we have been carrying out the" bike-friends" project with great passion and commitment, focusing on the Terún brand as a winning choice. Franco and I have been cycling for many years and we are great fans of two wheels. Lacking for nothing, neither the road nor the mountain bike. Good food and sport is always a winning combination. Professionals and former two-wheel professionals often come to visit us and participate in the "Terún Ride", a ride in company starting early in the morning from the Pizzeria, not before having a coffee; 120-140 km of freedom to then return to Terún and eat a nice pizza with beer and wine. After so many km on the bike you can really eat what you want! " Albert Einstein used to say that life is like riding a bicycle, to maintain balance you have to move. We try to do it in the best possible way."
